We are a service and software company that helps schools across the country offer daily lunches to their students and staff. We partner with restaurants within the school communities we serve. We are passionate about positively impacting the lives of families and school communities by providing a full-service lunch solution that saves time and money. As we expand, we seek a Chief Operating Officer who shares our values and vision to join our leadership team.

My Hot Lunchbox is a quick and easy lunch solution that offers a variety of delicious meals, delivered right to schools and camps. We give parents a break from the monotony of packing lunch for their kids daily by partnering with popular restaurants students already know and love!

Who Are We Looking For?

My Hot Lunchbox is looking for a dynamic and experienced Chief Operating Officer to lead our organization’s operations and drive our company’s operational excellence. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of process improvement strategies (i.e. EOS, Lean Six Sigma, etc.). They will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive operational strategies that align with our company’s financials, growth objectives, and values. They will build and oversee a team and perform other operational duties.

The right candidate will first and foremost be a leader people can respect and want to follow. They will be full of passion about our mission to offer high-quality lunches to students and staff, by building relationships with community partners through integrity and innovation. While being strategic, innovative, and organized, they will work alongside our founder who is a visionary and entrepreneur with ideas and a heart for the communities MHL serves.

Our Chief Operating Officer will be an authentic leader who humbly models our values and believes in our vision and purpose. They will be a key member of the executive team, responsible for overseeing the company’s day-to-day operational functions. The Chief Operating Officer will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, enhancing productivity, and ensuring our growth plans are executed efficiently while maintaining our commitment to community and charitable efforts.

What Will This Role Be Responsible For?

  1. Operational Strategy and Leadership:
    • Develop and implement operational strategies to support the company’s growth objectives as well as align operational activities with the company’s long-term vision and objectives.
    • Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to shape the company’s strategic direction.
    • Provide leadership and direction to all operational functions.
  2. Process Improvement and Efficiency
    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Streamline operations to optimize resources and improve service delivery.
    • Utilize data and metrics to monitor performance and drive continuous improvement.
    • Develop, implement, and maintain operational policies, procedures, and workflows to ensure efficiency, consistency, and compliance.
  3. Project and Program Management
    • Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of key projects and initiatives.
    • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
    • Manage cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
  4. Team Leadership and Development
    • Build and mentor a high-performing operations team.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
    • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for operational staff.
    • Collaborate with other departments, such as sales, marketing, vendor relations, and customer service, to align operational activities within overall business objectives and customer needs.
  5. Budget and Resource Management
    • Resource Management: Optimizing Resource Allocation, including personnel, equipment and materials, to support operational needs and maximize productivity.
    • Develop and manage the Operations budget.
    • Ensure efficient allocation of resources and tracking of expenses to maximize ROI and achieve desired outcomes.
  6. Performance Measurement and Reporting
    • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of Operational initiatives.
    • Regularly analyze results and provide actionable insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
    • Performance Reports: They generate performance reports and dashboards to track operational metrics, providing insights into trends, patterns and areas for improvement. 

Who Is Qualified

  • A candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field; MBA preferred
  • Someone with Lean Six Sigma or EOS certifications.
  • Someone with proven experience as a COO, VP of Operations, Director of Operations, or similar senior operational leadership role.
  • A leader with strong knowledge of operational management, process improvement, and project management.
  • A team player with excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
  • A candidate with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Someone with demonstrated experience in community service and charitable organizations is a plus.
  • A candidate with the ability to make data-driven decisions and manage multiple priorities.

Compensation

  • Salary range of $150,000 to $180,000
  • Bonus/Incentive: 25%-30% of salary
